This year, the SAE OBD Digital Summit Europe (March 15-17, 2022) will focus on addressing the technical challenges presented by new vehicle systems, the latest regulatory and standards requirements, new legislative policies, industry drivers, and new and emerging technologies. On March 16, 2022, Peter Subke, Business Development Manager at Softing Automotive, will give a presentation on "The Future of OBD: Enhanced On-Board Diagnostic System with Remote Access".
Today, the use of electrical powertrains is increasing and the life of combustion engines is nearing its end. Although electrically powered vehicles do not need the monitoring of exhaust gas relevant components, the OBD system will not disappear. On the contrary, the OBD system is being expanded and given new tasks. Especially in autonomous vehicles, an enhanced on-board diagnostic system is indispensable to ensure availability, safety, and security.
Peter Subke gives an insight into the future of OBD and the features of an extended on-board diagnostic system that monitors both the emission-related and safety-relevant functions of the vehicle.
