Invitation to the Virtual Softing Automotive Convention on May 5-6, 2021 | Due to the severe restriction of personal contact options since last year, we had to completely rethink events and customer appointments. With a creative digitalization concept based on current technology, we have created a virtual space that offers us the ideal event location. It allows our customers and partners to experience software solutions and exhibits in the office or at home.

BODAS-service 4.x – More than Maintenance and Repair | powered by Softing TDX: Mobile working machinery is an important segment of the entire vehicle market. Typically the machinery requires hydraulic drive technology, especially axial piston units, which make displacement with high pressure possible. The operating and environmental conditions in this segment are much tougher than for standard motor vehicles.

After-sales service provides service networks for vehicles and machinery – often on a world-wide scale. These generally pursue one goal: to reduce downtimes and thus the total cost of ownership (TCO). The core business includes fast, targeted maintenance and repair. This not only requires the use of an efficient repair shop tester, but also places special demands on its worldwide availability and updatability via a modern back end.

There are tens of thousands of individual repair shop testers in the field today. On top of that, they are deployed all over the world by different users with different requirements and authorizations. Improper handling can lead to serious damage. This multi-user scenario can only be mastered with an appropriate allocation of tester functions and central administration. Integrated authorization management fits into the core processes and, furthermore, offers additional security.

The 14th Conference on Diagnostics in Mechatronic Vehicle Systems will take place on 18th and 19th May, 2021. This year the topics will again focus on current challenges and new technologies concerning test and diagnostics in E/E-Systems in motor vehicles in combination with an interconnected infrastructure, new assistance functionalities, remote diagnostics as well as the compliance of legal requirements and standards.

On October 12, 2020, we are opening the doors of our virtual showroom for the very first time. This way we will have no trouble in bringing technical presentations as well as our solutions and exhibits to your office or home. Modern heavy-duty vehicles, such as trucks and buses but also forestry and agricultural machines or construction equipment, are packed with E/E components that support selfdiagnostic functions and increase the quality of maintenance, service, and repair processes. In service workshops, “right the first try” reduces expensive downtime and saves a lot of money. This objective is supported by a process that captures the already generated in-vehicle data and sends it to a cloud server for analysis and the creation of vehicle- and/or fleet-specific predictive maintenance sequences. New SAE International technical paper "In-Vehicle Diagnostic System for Prognostics and OTA Updates of Automated / Autonomous Vehicles" by Peter Subke, Muzafar Moshref and Julian Erber (Softing Automotive) – The increasing complexity of microcontroller-based automotive E/E systems that control road-vehicles and non-road mobile machinery comes with increased self-diagnosis functions and diagnosability via external test equipment (diagnostic tester).

In spite of standardization and user-friendly tools, the complexity of vehicle diagnostics basically demands more or less sound know-how, depending on the area of application and requirements. The new release 2.3 of the repair shop tester Softing TDX is now available, featuring automated and centralized software updates. This saves time and considerably reduces the effort involved in maintenance.
