Softing Automotive at the i-Mobility 2024

Ready for the Future!

On 4th April 2024, the i-Mobility event was inaugurated in Stuttgart by Transport Minister Winfried Hermann. Subsequently, Minister Hermann visited the booth for the research project AMEISE, supported by the Ministry of Transport Baden-Württemberg. It was an honor to discuss with him the potentials of autonomous driving in public transportation!

The goal of the "AMEISE" project is the development and research of highly automated, emission-free vehicles for passenger transport in public transport and the exploration of success factors for the faster spread of autonomous driving in public transport in Baden-Württemberg.

Visitors at the booth were asked: "Why is the driverless bus part of the city of the future?" Minister Hermann responded first on our project's idea board: "The driverless bus belongs first in rural areas."

This aligns well with the character of the AMEISE project, which, since its initial pilot phase in the Ameisenbühl industrial area in the city of Waiblingen, now addresses with Ehningen in the Böblingen district another location in the Stuttgart region transitioning to rural areas or at the edge of the S-Bahn network.

Minister Hermann was pleased that much technology for autonomous driving and the required infrastructure comes from Baden-Württemberg. He engaged in direct exchange with Armin Baumann, CEO of Softing.

Technological progress and sustainable mobility – two themes that come together at i-Mobility. Visitors can still test intelligent mobility solutions until April 7, 2024, as part of the spring fairs in Stuttgart.
