The automotive sector is exposed more than ever before to the continually growing complexity of E/E architectures as well as ever shorter product cycles in vehicle engineering. This results in new technologies for buses and ECUs in the vehicle as well as a large number of demands in terms of safeguarding these complex systems. This is ultimately also something required by the legislator – a challenge for the tool and process landscape of both OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.
At Softing Automotive we understand the challenges of our customers and in the future will also be offering reliable and use-case-optimized expert diagnostics – the Diagnostic Tool Set (DTS) in a new generation.
The new features of the Softing DTS 9 platform include in particular the revised security concept which offers further protection in terms of "hackability" & "crackability", remote diagnostics in the engineering network, a completely integrated 64-bit variant of the integrated product components of the Softing Application Framework as well as the representation and recording of DoIP communication.
A new floating license mechanism ensures flexibility and saves our customers both time and expenses. Furthermore, the new DTS 9 platform offers international users multilingual capability with the provision of a German, English and Japanese translation of the interfaces and manuals (also in other languages on request). This not only reduces the amount of training required but also leads to increased usability of the whole system.
A new UI concept combines familiar display and working methods of the Diagnostic Tool Set with new, innovative Windows technology content, thus ensuring user acceptance and enthusiasm. The interface methodology used also makes it possible to quickly and inexpensively create new content which can be integrated in scaled form into the new working environment. This technology is also used to further develop the familiar HMI controls – the smartDiagnostic-Controls.
The complexity of these components is also reduced both in terms of operation and in number without the user suffering any significant functional restrictions. The controls were extended in terms of function in particular with regard to new topics such as Automotive Ethernet/Diagnostics over IP (DoIP), CAN-FD as well as the new ISO standard of OTX, offering users the necessary information in one interface without them having to integrate tools which are difficult to extend and maintain in their daily working processes.
