In daily operation, ECUs in the vehicle are exposed to a wide range of environmental influences, such as vibrations, strongly fluctuating ambient temperatures and high humidity. The components must therefore be able to handle all conceivable faults. For the test, these faults are simulated on the ECU pin and the respective behavior and diagnostic entry documented. Typically, such fault simulations are used for function tests during development, for testing, release and validation of ECUs and components, as well as for integration validation during HiL testing or at the Functional Mock-Up (FMU).

It is a long journey from the start of engineering to the installation of all vehicle components and ECUs in the production vehicle. Comprehensive testing of the electronic components during the entire engineering process is essential. This is the only way to thoroughly safeguard and optimize hardware and software functions. Errors can be detected and remedied quickly – the earlier the better.

Invitation to the Virtual Softing Automotive Convention on May 5-6, 2021 | Due to the severe restriction of personal contact options since last year, we had to completely rethink events and customer appointments. The large number of diagnostic tester installations (Softing TDX.workshop) all over the world makes the efficient management of role and user authorizations particularly important. In addition, ensuring consistent, automated and centrally controlled updates of software and its diagnostic content, such as repair instructions and diagnostic trees, is of particular importance for the use of the diagnostic tester in the repair shop area. We meet these challenges with Softing TDX.admin, a backend administrator tool from the Softing TDX toolkit.

With the new generation of the Diagnostic Tool Set – Softing DTS 9 – the integration of OTX sequences in the Monaco workspaces now makes it possible for entire release sequences, continuous operation controls as well as certifications to be safely integrated into the working environment to prevent operating errors. OTX allows you to freely define both the user interfaces and the stored diagnostic sequence.

The new release 2.3 of the repair shop tester Softing TDX is now available, featuring automated and centralized software updates. This saves time and considerably reduces the effort involved in maintenance.

A frequent challenge for diagnostics in the field, particularly in the machine environment, is that the ECU configuration of the machine is not known in advance and that a diagnostic project may have to be adapted or supplemented dynamically during runtime. With the new version 2.2. of the repair shop tool Softing TDX, it is possible to load and even supplement diagnostic projects dynamically, depending on the machine configuration.
