New High-Speed Interface "Softing SVI" for Vehicle Communication in the Gigabit Range
We are pleased to present the new Smart Vehicle Interface ‘Softing SVI’ – a high-performance solution for modern ECU programming with continuous data supply. The Softing SVI combines the advantages of the high-speed wireless connection of a Smart Device with the classic diagnostic functions of a high-end Vehicle Communication Interface (VCI) and an SSD in a compact housing. It thus enables fast, reliable and flexible flash programming of substantial amounts of data and is therefore the solution for the high requirements of software-defined vehicles (SDV).
The ‘Smart Vehicle Interface’ from Softing will be available from 2025.

The introduction of software-defined vehicles and new E/E architectures leads to an increase in the amount of software in the vehicle as well as to a significantly more complex release and integration of components. A high variance of code must be both tested and released. In addition, fast and secure transfer of the software to the vehicle must be guaranteed. This takes place at ever shorter intervals, as safety and performance improvements as well as functional enhancements must be brought into the vehicle as quickly as possible.
With CAN/FD, 100BASE Ethernet and 1000BASE Ethernet, the integrated high-end VCI is designed for both modern gigabit applications and legacy diagnostics. It processes the real-time-critical parts of the diagnostic protocols.
The integrated smart device provides the necessary system environment: a fast multi-core processor for programme execution, a display for status and diagnostic data, a battery for uninterrupted vehicle changes and standby times of several days as well as various wireless interfaces for integration into backend and cloud systems. In addition, features such as GPS can be easily integrated for special applications.
By shifting functions and applications to just one high-performance device, efficiency can be increased over the entire vehicle life cycle through fast and reliable reflashing. By integrating the Softing SDE as a diagnostic system, a wide range of diagnostic applications can be quickly implemented. Virtualisation based on containerisation of the solution enables great freedom in the process and system landscape. At the same time, new, highly flexible and decentral process sequences and thus economies of scale are made possible.
The Softing SVI is not only suitable for programming in the production line, but is also suitable for other applications such as road tests or after-sales service.
