The 18th Conference – Diagnostics in Mechatronic Vehicle Systems will take place in Dresden on June 3 and 4, 2025. In 2025, the topics will once again be geared towards current challenges and new technologies in the field of testing, inspection and diagnosis of E/E systems in vehicles in connection with the networked infrastructure, new assistance functions, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, software integrity and the challenges of meeting legal requirements and standards.
On Tuesday, June 3 at 5:00 PM, Günter Fahböck (Product Manager at Softing Automotive) and Ingo Drüen (Manager Innovation & Test, Softing Automotive) will provide exclusive insights into the topic:
SOVD (Service Oriented Vehicle Diagnostics) is a standard that is specifically designed for the diagnosis of high-performance computers (HPCs) in increasingly software-defined vehicles (SDVs). Among other things, the standard enables the execution of scripts in the runtime environment, the SOVD server, in the vehicle. This can be an OTX process, for example. At the same time, the integration of SOVD is being worked on as part of OTX standardization in order to facilitate the diagnosis of SDVs in test sequences.
Software-defined vehicles and the new standards pose a challenge for the workshop solution. The basic functionality of the tester will initially remain unchanged. However, the technology will change massively due to the relocation of part of the diagnostic system to the vehicle. At the same time, the current approach must remain in operation for well over 20 years. The greatest need for change is in the underlying processes. Data release and distribution must be done differently, software updates must become much more important and be moved at least partially from the workshop tester to the backend. The cloud will play a major role overall: this is where information that is generated and stored in the vehicle itself during software updates or via a vehicle health state flows together with information that is collected in the workshop application.
You will learn all about this important topic in our paper and presentation at the Diagnostic Conference 2025. We look forward to meeting you there!
